Jesse Barrett

Oboe

Jesse Barrett is a San Francisco Bay Area resident who grew up in Pleasant Hill, CA. He is happy to have played oboe and English horn with most Bay Area ensembles, including San Francisco Opera, Ballet, and New Century Chamber Orchestra.

As a soloist, Mr. Barrett has enjoyed performing a range of repertoire including concerti by Handel, Vivaldi, and Strauss, Copland’s Quiet City, Costa Rican composer Benjamin Gutiérrez’s Sketches for Oboe and Strings, and a more a recent commission by Sahba Aminikia, Shahmaran, which he also narrated.

Mr. Barrett is an avid chamber musician, new music enthusiast, and passionate singer. He loves a piano bar but has also been found in venues like Feinstein’s or the Swedish American Hall, hosting as an emcee, oboist, singer, and/or “actor”.  A lover of music across genres, he has shared the stage with a variety of performers, including Dave Brubeck, Andrea Bocelli, Chicago, The Who, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Third Eye Blind.
