Jason Augustus Rober

VBA Bass | 2024

A recent graduate of Eastman School of Music (M.M.), baritone Jason Augustus Rober enjoys a great variety of musical opportunities in New York State. Having performed opera roles that span the history of the art form, from Giove in Cavalli’s “La Calisto” to Mortimer in Anthony Davis’s “Lear on the Second Floor,” Jason has also appeared in concert as a soloist with such ensembles as the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Western New York Chamber Orchestra. A lover of all things baroque, he has had the pleasure of being a soloist in many cantatas of Bach, and was recently a young artist with the Boston Early Music Festival, where he studied and performed opera roles of the French baroque such as Arcas in Elisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre’s “Céphale et Procris.” Jason has particularly cherished performing works of early music with ensembles local to Rochester, NY, such as Bach’s B Minor Mass with the VOICES choral ensemble, and cantatas of Bruhns with Publick Musick. In addition to his graduate studies at Eastman, Jason is a proud graduate of SUNY Fredonia, where he obtained his B.M. in Music Education. Beyond the realm of music, Jason takes delight in hiking his native Hudson Valley region and exploring vegetarian cuisine.
