    Soprano Clara Rottsolk has been lauded by The New York Times for her “clear, appealing voice and expressive conviction” and by The Philadelphia Inquirer for the “opulent tone [with which] every phrase has such a communicative emotional presence.” A brilliant and accomplished concert artist, her solo appearances have taken her across the United States, the Middle East, Japan, and South America.

    “With a silken voice capable of extraordinary power” (San Diego Union-Tribune), she has appeared as a soloist with orchestras including Baltimore Symphony, American Bach Soloists, Santa Fe Pro Musica, the American Classical Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, Bach Collegium San Diego, Virginia Symphony, New Mexico Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, Trinity Wall Street, and Seattle Baroque Orchestra, under the direction of conductors including Grete Pedersen, Nicholas McGeegan, Jeffrey Thomas, Dinis Sousa, Stephen Stubbs, David Danzmayr, Joshua Rifkin, Ruben Valenzuela, Chia-Hsuan Lin, Timothy Nelson, and Andrew Megill.

    Also dedicated to chamber and recital repertoire, she performs with ensembles including Les Délices, TENET, Piffaro the Renaissance Wind Band, Colorado Bach Ensemble, House of Time, and Pegasus Baroque. Frequently in demand as a festival soloist, her credits include Carmel Bach, Berkeley Early Music, Montréal Baroque, Spoleto USA, Winter Park Bach, Seattle Bach, St. Louis Bach, Indianapolis Early Music, Whidbey Island Music, and Boston Early Music Fringe.

    Her solo recordings can be found on Chandos, Analekta, MSR Classics, and independent labels. Currently she is based in Philadelphia and teaches voice at Swarthmore, Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges.

  • Ginger Kroft
    Ginger Kroft
    Principal Clarinet

    Ginger Kroft is a faculty member at San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Santa Clara University. She is Principal Clarinet of Sacramento Philharmonic and the Carmel Bach Festival, and is a member of the Oakland Symphony. Ms. Kroft regularly performed with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra for many seasons. In the chamber world, Ms. Kroft was in-residence with Left Coast Chamber Ensemble at the Wunsch New Music Festival.

    She is a Vandoren International Artist and performs on M15 mouthpieces and Traditional reeds. An education advocate, Ms. Kroft maintains a private teaching studio, ClarinetStudio.org, and is a frequent adjudicator of solo competitions. Ms. Kroft holds degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Northwestern University.

  • Dongsok Shin
    Dongsok Shin
    Harpsichord

    Dongsok Shin was born in Boston and studied modern piano with his mother, Chonghyo Shin, and with Nadia Reisenberg at the Mannes College of Music. He converted exclusively to early keyboard instruments in the early 1980’s. He received international recognition as music director of baroque opera productions with the Mannes Camerata and has been a member of the internationally acclaimed baroque ensemble REBEL since 1997.

    He has appeared with early music groups all over the United States, including the Carmel Bach Festival, American Classical Orchestra, ARTEK, Concert Royal, Early Music New York, and Pro Music Rara; has toured throughout the Americas and Europe; and has been heard on numerous radio broadcasts. He has accompanied Renée Fleming, Rufus Müller, Rachel Brown, Jed Wentz, Marion Verbruggen, and Barthold Kuijken in recital. In addition to his performing career, he is a recording engineer, producer, and editor of early music recordings for many labels, as well as a producer of music videos.

    He is a curator of the antique keyboard instruments at the Flint Collection in Delaware, a tuner of early keyboards at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City, and the early keyboard technician for the Metropolitan Opera. Videos produced by the Metropolitan Museum of Dongsok demonstrating early fortepianos, including the earliest known Bartolomeo Cristofori piano from 1720, have garnered over 400,000 views.
