Carey Beebe
Harpsichord Technician
Carey is perhaps the most traveled and best-known Australian harpsichord maker, enjoying his twenty-second Carmel Bach Festival season in 2023.
Recent projects include performances with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and Sydney Philharmonia Choirs in the rebuilt Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House. His latest harpsichord commissions completed during the COVID pandemic have been delivered to the Australian National Academy of Music (Melbourne), the Australian National University School of Music (Canberra), and his alma mater, Sydney Conservatorium, University of Sydney.
In addition to his skills as a maker with over sixty instruments bearing his name spread over four continents, Carey is an award-winning restorer of original instruments, and has gained considerable expertise in the problems of maintaining early keyboards under adverse conditions. As a result, his services are in constant demand worldwide.
