July 1 Hype Video

It's musician arrival day here at the Festival. Rehearsals begin tomorrow with our first pre-Festival concert next Monday evening. Our annual series of musician videos will begin later in the week. For now, here's our first-of-July hype video!

The sun finally came out in Carmel this morning so we headed to Scenic Drive with Principal Clarinetist Ginger Kroft. The sublime Mozart Ginger played was a perfect match for the scene!Ginger has been a Bach Festival musician for 13 seasons. She is Principal Clarinet of the Sacramento Philharmonic and a member of the Oakland East Bay Symphony. She has frequently performed with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and numerous Bay Area orchestras. Ginger holds degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (MM) and Northwestern University (BM).

The Frozen North

Last week, Crossing Cultures--our education and performance program--visited several schools throughout Monterey County. This year's Crossing Cultures program featured a string quintet - violinists Tammie Dyer and Eldar Hudiev, violist Meg Eldridge, cellist Paul Rhodes and bassist Bruce Moyer performed and coached young string players. O Fortuna - Carmel Bach Festival 2018

Buckle up Bach Festival patrons! The largest ensemble the Festival has ever put on the Sunset Center Stage will pin you to your seat. Here is a taste of "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana, flimed at our annual concert dress rehearsal last night. Carmina closes the Saturday night 7/14 and 7/21 main concerts, and is a true musical spectacle full of energy, passion, and raw power.There are still a few tickets left, but they will go fast. You do not want to miss this!

Beethoven 9 and Thank You!

The Carmel Bach Festival office is closed next week, and when it reopens August 14, the staff will begin planning for the 81st season, July 14-28, 2018.We leave you with one more look at Beethoven's mighty 9th, shot at a rehearsal before the Festival began. Andrew Megill-Adagio

Mhairi Lawson - Simple Gifts

Which is more breathtakingly beautiful - Point Lobos and the Northern California coastline, or soprano soloist Mhairi Lawson's stunning voice? Mhairi is singing Aaron Copland's "Simple Gifts," a gorgeous song that is part of the Tuesday main concerts during the Festival.
