Ann Lavin
Clarinet
Ann Lavin has performed with Bay Area ensembles such as the San Francisco Opera, Ballet and Symphony; San Jose Opera; San Jose Chamber Orchestra; and the symphonies of Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Monterey and Oakland. She has recorded video game music at Skywalker Ranch and has performed educational outreach shows in dozens of San Francisco public schools.

For 12 summers, she played principal clarinet with the Utah Festival Opera, where she played opera and musical theater, and enjoyed scenic mountain hikes. Dr. Lavin teaches clarinet and chamber music at UC Davis, where she enjoys working with both majors and non-majors. Last year, she and her students organized a community benefit concert and raised $2500 for Australian animal fire rescue.

She studied with Larry Combs, Charles Neidich, Robert Marcellus and Dan Gilbert. When not playing music, Ann enjoys swimming and gardening. She lives in Davis with her husband and two cats.
