Rod Mathews is the Principal Tuba of the San Luis Obispo Symphony, and previously held the same position with the Sacramento Symphony and the Santa Rosa Symphony. Rod performs regularly with orchestras across Northern California including the Santa Rosa Symphony, Oakland Symphony, Monterey Symphony, Modesto Symphony, Fresno Philharmonic, Symphony San Jose, and the Santa Cruz Symphony. Rod is a graduate of the Juilliard School and lives in Pebble Beach, CA with his wife and twin daughters. When not playing tuba, Rod enjoys playing golf, traveling, working on old cars, and searching for the perfect taco.
