Always a Pleasure

Georganne Thurston, volunteer since 2013 writes, “The Carmel Bach Festival, an 82-year tradition, hosts musicians from around the world to our village. We welcome returning and new guests to the cool summer breezes of Carmel. Always a pleasure to see volunteers, staff, and loyal patrons that come again and again remembering us with smiles and kind words…”

“Tower Music sets the mood for many events, heralding all to enjoy the intimacy of our venues. The Sunset Center provides an elegant and dramatic backdrop to a full Festival Orchestra and Chorale. Our historic Carmel Mission Basilica is the hostess to weekly concerts, my favorite. I have no musical skills, but I can walk and hold a candle so that’s my role. As Candle Bearers, we process in and out surrounded by the members of the Chorale, slowly setting the pace, and guiding them to their positions joining the members of the Festival Orchestra and Andrew Megill, associate conductor, at the altar. It is thrilling.”

Please email your favorite CBF volunteer experiences; your favorite performances; why you volunteer, not only for the Festival, but in general.

We will share your thoughts and comments through our CBF Volunteer E-Zine. To make it easy, you can even record and send an audio file or set up a time when we can talk on the phone and I will take notes and do a write up of our conversation. Please email your volunteer experiences to slborthwick@sbcglobal.net.
